Welcome to the North Farmington Band and Orchestra Website. Our goal is to assist in the communication between parents, students and directors regarding North Farmington's Instrumental Music Program.
A Message from Our President. . .
Dear Music Families,
We are among the darkest days of the year before the Sun begins its outward journey. And that darkness took its toll on our North community this week.
As most of you now know, we tragically lost a beautiful young soul on the evening of Wednesday December 8. (Isabella) Bella Cooley, a NFHS junior was a passionate, curious funny, caring, and creative spirit. A writer and Yearbook Editor , she also played Lacrosse and Field Hockey. She had friends in multiple clubs, classes and sports at North. Many of our Band and Orchestra students were close to her, or to her friends.
Last night, the Junior Class Board held a vigil at The Rock in Bella's honor. At least 70 students, and many of our music students came to share stories, tears and hugs. They sprayed the rock black, and wrote Bella's name in her favorite color, Tiffany Blue.
We lit candles, in the icy wind.
We cupped hands over each other's flames. Relighting them when the wind blew them out.
Many candles and bouquets remain at the Rock.
Our students have been extraordinary. They have poured out kindness and concern reaching beyond their own sorrow to comfort peers, teachers, staff and parents.
We offer you some light against this loss with two concerts this week, with afterglows and mingling:
On Wednesday, December 14, at 7:30 PM, please join us for our Orchestras Concert, under the baton of Mr. John Kennedy. Student call time is 7pm.
On Thursday, December 15, at 7:30 PM, our Symphony Band will perform, led by
Mr. Mike Yoskovich, with guests Warner 8th Grade Band and Ms. Fauls. Student call Time is 7pm.
Finally, I would like to thank Mr. Y and
Mr. Kennedy for their great leadership and compassion in this tragic week. Mr. Greene and our admin and staff have been stellar in executing the saddest of duties.
I look forward to hearing our students raise their instruments to speak where words fail.
Wishing you all peace and comfort.
